The cruise ship Ocean Endeavour is on its way to Lerwick to provide floating accommodation for Petrofac in support of the Shetland Gas Plant project. It left Las Palmas in the Canary Islands at the weekend and may arrive in a week’s time.

The ship is expected to remain in Lerwick for six months and will initially berth at Victoria Pier but may need to move berth on occasions when the berth is otherwise required.

Formerly Kristina Katarina the vessel has previously visited Lerwick on cruises and had been expected to call again in July and August. However, the Finnish company that owned the vessel has recently stopped operating cruises, and the new owners have renamed the vessel and made the 193 cabin vessel available for charter.

The Ocean Endeavour is instead of the Bibby Bergen accommodation barge that was previously scheduled to come to Lerwick.

Petrofac have advised that the other three floating accommodation barges in Lerwick are scheduled to remain until May, June and August 2014.
