Cruise Ship Meet & Greet Team Members (Temporary Seasonal)

Lerwick Port Authority is committed to maintaining the highest standard of welcome to visiting cruise ship passengers through the provision of an annual Meet & Greet service. The skilled Meet & Greet team members will represent the Authority to give each passenger a warm welcome ashore and create a lasting positive impression of the Islands. They provide helpful assistance, information and basic orientation to make sure passengers find everything they are looking for during their visit.

These diverse positions require the postholders to have a genuine passion for customer service, have strong communication skills and possess a good local knowledge of Lerwick and beyond.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, hold a valid driver’s licence and have experience in working in a tourism industry or in a customer-facing role. Fluency in foreign languages would be desirable.

Work shifts are varied to suit cruise ship arrivals and will include weekend, early morning and evening work.

These roles involve working outdoors for extended periods in an operation, safety critical environment and in all weather conditions. Appointment is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment relevant to the duties of the post.

Temporary Seasonal General Duties Operatives (Fixed Term & Casual)

Closing Date: 12:00pm, Friday 27th February

Temporary seasonal operative are required to join our shore staff team to undertake general duties associated with the operation of the port during the busy summer ahead.

These diverse positions require the postholders to moor, let go and water vessels, as well as carry out general duties around the harbour such as cleaning, painting and general maintenance. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.

Hours of work will typically average 40 hours per week and can include evening and weekend work. Casual ad hoc hours also available.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, hold a full, clean driver’s licence, be physically fit and capable of passing a pre-employment medical.
