Sunday 3rd June, 2018

RWYC Round Britain and Ireland Yacht Race

Starting in Plymouth on 3 June 2018 for a duration of approximately three weeks, this race comprises five legs totalling approximately 2000 miles.

Yachts are expected at Lerwick for their 48 hour stopover from 17 June 2018 onwards.

The course is sailed clockwise around the British Isles and Ireland leaving all islands and rocks to starboard. The race is open to professional and amateur yachtsmen in mono and multi-hulls from twenty eight feet up to fifty feet length overall. This will be the 14th running of the legendary four yearly yacht race which was established in 1966. Recognised as one of the most testing of the two handed races the event attracts experienced crews from Europe and the world. The race is a major challenge of navigation and seamanship. For those ashore the race can be easily followed as the boats carry Yellowbrick Trackers and their progress can be monitored via the event website.
