Shetland-Norway Wartime Connections Commemorated in Lerwick

A former Norwegian fishing vessel, Haugefisk, now a museum ship, will be open to the public at Victoria Pier in Lerwick. Her visit commemorates the strong wartime ties between Shetland and Norway, particularly the covert Shetland Bus operations of World War II. The vessel’s skipper, Svein Sandvik, has a personal family connection to the operation.

This special visit highlights the enduring connection between our two nations and the bravery of those involved in covert missions across the North Sea.

Note for visitors: Victoria Pier will be closed to vehicles on Wednesday due to cruise ship operations but visitors can access Haugefisk on foot.
