Lerwick Port Authority proudly supports annual sail training opportunities delivered by Sail Training Shetland.
Young people living in and around Shetland are touched by the sea at all points. Sail training offers them the chance to broaden their horizons beyond our shores in exciting ocean passages and participation in The Tall Ships Races. Taster day sails onboard Shetland's very own Tall Ship Swan LK243 provide a thrilling introduction to sail training locally for all that apply.
The port has a long standing affinity with The Tall Ships Races, spanning generations, having hosted the event three times, and our support continues to provide challenging, life changing adventures for those that partipate.
Young people aged 15-25 can apply for a summer sail training experience now. The deadline for applications is Friday 27 March 2026.
