Lerwick Port Authority has recognised the outstanding contribution of Stephen Breivik, who has reached the milestone of 40 years' service with the organisation.

Stephen joined the Authority in August 1986, straight from school, as a Joiner’s Assistant. He later joined the on-call shore team before becoming a temporary boatman in 2001/02. In 2004, he permanently joined the crews of the Authority’s vessels Knab and Kebister.

During his career, Stephen has seen plenty of change, both within the port and across the maritime industry, but one thing has remained constant. He highlighted the importance of the people he has worked alongside and the camaraderie that comes from working with a close-knit team.

Forty years’ service is a remarkable achievement and we are delighted to celebrate this milestone with Stephen. Throughout his career, Stephen has adapted to change while bringing commitment and a wealth of experience to his work. His knowledge and good humour are greatly appreciated by colleagues.

There is also something particularly special about marking 40 years when his father, Alan, also gave 40 years of service to the Authority.
