Accommodation ship Regina Baltica is being brought to Lerwick by Petrofac to provide floating accommodation in support of the Shetland Gas Plant project.

At 145 metres long, the former Baltic ferry has recently been operating as an accommodation vessel in both England and Germany. Petrofac plans to accommodate up to 300 people onboard.

The ship is expected to arrive on Wednesday 19 March from Tallinn and to remain in Lerwick for four months until mid-July 2014. Initially, the Regina Baltica will berth at Mair’s Quay but may need to move berth on occasions when required.

The Regina Baltica becomes the fifth floating accommodation unit in Lerwick. Petrofac have advised that the charters of these barges and vessels will last until the end of May through until August 2014.
