A small fishing vessel was grounded at Bains Beach in the early hours of 22 July 2025 after sustaining damage off South Ness, Lerwick.
The skipper of the Firecrest TT46 raised the alarm at 03:18 after the vessel began taking on significant water. Following notification to Shetland Coastguard, Lerwick Lifeboat and the workboat Jenny D arrived on scene to assist. The skipper brought the vessel ashore at around 03:30. The single handed crew member was uninjured.
A minor fuel leak was identified, and booms have been deployed to contain any oil while harbour staff and emergency services continue to monitor the situation.
