Lerwick Port Authority is supporting the newly launched Lerwick Town Centre Business Awards, an initiative led by Living Lerwick to recognise the businesses and individuals who help make the Town Centre a welcoming and vibrant place.

Sponsored by Lerwick Port Authority, the awards celebrate excellence across a range of sectors, highlighting the contribution town centre businesses make to the local economy and the experience of residents and visitors alike.

Members of the public are invited to vote across six categories:

  • Health and Beauty Business of the Year
  • Hospitality Business of the Year
  • Professional Service Business of the Year
  • Retailer of the Year
  • New Business of the Year
  • Lerwick Town Centre Champion

The New Business of the Year award is open to all businesses that have opened in the town centre within the past 18 months, while the Lerwick Town Centre Champion award will recognise individuals who have demonstrated exceptional customer service, dedication or contribution to the town centre experience.

Supporting the awards is about recognising the everyday effort that goes into keeping the town centre active and attractive. Local businesses provide jobs, support community groups, welcome visitors, and serve residents year-round. That contribution matters to the local economy and to the wellbeing of the wider community.

Having a strong town centre so close to the port, we see first-hand how important local businesses are to creating a welcoming and resilient community. Supporting these awards is a positive way to recognise the commitment and cooperation shown by businesses throughout the year.
