New Container Park to Support Inshore Fishing Fleet

Lerwick Port Authority has completed a new container park at Gremista, Lerwick, providing valuable storage space for the local inshore fishing industry.

The facility features new 20- and 40-foot storage containers, on a new purpose-built site delivered by local contractor Frank L Johnston Shetland Ltd.

The development was supported by the UK Government’s UK Seafood Fund: Infrastructure Scheme and match-funded by the Authority, with the shared aim of strengthening infrastructure to support the fishing fleet and improve storage for fishing gear.

The Authority is inviting enquiries from fishing vessel owners interested in securing space at the new facility.
