MV Nordstjernen, arrived a day ahead of schedule today (Monday 6 May), marking a forty-year anniversary visit to Lerwick Harbour.

The ship is picking up an old tradition visiting Lerwick which was a popular feature of their ‘Shetland Cruises’ in the 1970’s. The last visit was recorded on 8 April 1979 with an earlier call in 1975.

Berthed at Victoria Pier, MV Nordstjernen is staying for two-nights as part of a westbound ‘Vikings, Whiskey, Wind and Waves’ voyage by Vestland Classic. Shetland and Orkney are the only British ports to feature on this itinerary.

Guests will be treated to special Viking welcome plus entertainment onboard by local musicians tomorrow evening for their final night in port. Photo of her previous visits can be viewed HERE
