Yachts participating in the annual Bergen-Shetland Race are due to arrive at Lerwick on Thursday 28 June, depending on weather conditions and race speeds. The race back to Bergen starts at 4pm on Saturday 30 June.

Coinciding with the race on Friday 29 June is arrival of cruise ship Costa Mediterranea at anchor.

Some re-arrangement of normal berthing for visiting yachts and charter boats is required to accommodate all vessels safely and ensure safe disembarkation of cruise passengers from tenders. The arrangements are as follows:-

  • Race yachts will use pontoon berths at Victoria Pier North and Albert Wharf. Victoria Pier North and Albert Wharf pontoons to be vacated by 1000hrs Thursday 28 June.
  • Cruise ship tenders will require use of Victoria Pier South pontoon Friday 29 June. Victoria Pier South pontoons to be vacated by 1000hrs and vessels can return after 2000hrs same day.
  • Visiting yachts can use Victoria Pier West / Albert Dock quay wall while race yachts are in port.

The Authority will review timings when the weather forecast becomes clearer, so please check back for any further updates.
