Alternative arrangements for visiting yachts during North Sea Triangle/Bergen-Shetland Race events and cruise ship operations.

Depending on weather conditions and race speeds, the following race yachts are due to arrive at Lerwick:

North Sea Triangle Challenge, approx. 26 yachts to berth at Small Boat Harbour. ETA Tuesday 25 June and ETD must be before 0600hrs Friday 28 June.

Bergen-Shetland Race, approximately 33 yachts to berth at Albert Dock/Victoria Pier North. ETA Thursday 27 June and ETD 1600hrs Saturday 29 June.

Coinciding with the yacht races in port is arrival of cruise ship Rotterdam at anchor.

Some re-arrangement of normal berthing for visiting yachts and charter boats is required to accommodate all vessels safely and ensure safe disembarkation of cruise passengers from tenders. The arrangements are as follows:-

  • NORTH SEA TRIANGLE RACE YACHTS WILL USE PONTOON BERTHS AT THE SMALL BOAT HARBOUR WHICH MUST BE VACATED BY 0600HRS ON FRIDAY 28 JUNE FOR USE BY CRUISE SHIP TENDERS. VESSELS CAN RETURN AFTER 1800HRS THAT EVENING.
  • CRUISE SHIP ROTTERDAM WILL BE USING THE SMALL BOAT HARBOUR PONTOONS ON FRIDAY 28 JUNE.
  • BERGEN-SHETLAND RACE YACHTS WILL USE PONTOON BERTHS AT ALBERT WHARF AND VICTORIA PIER NORTH.
  • VISITING YACHTS CAN USE VICTORIA PIER WEST / BREAKWATER WHILE RACE YACHTS ARE IN PORT.

The Authority will review timings when the weather forecast becomes clearer, so please check with reception for any further updates.
